P&G Switch Challenge Test - What Is It and How to Be Ready?
note

What is the P&G Switch Challenge?

The P&G switch challenge test, also known as Aon/cut-e’s Deductive Logical Reasoning Test or Scales sx, measures your abstract logical reasoning through highly complicated questions that aim to overload your short-term memory. This gives P&G a sense of your capabilities and ways of thinking and if they match the position and the organization..

You will have 6 minutes to answer as many tasks as you can.

In each task, you will be presented with two rows of symbols.

The order of the symbols changes according to a rule, which is represented by operators with sequences of numbers. Your task is to identify the operator that changed the order of the symbols according to that rule.

The game is adaptive, which means that the difficulty of the questions changes according to whether you answered right or wrong. As such, if you are doing well, you will reach the multi-layer sequences, in which the symbols pass through a second and third operator that changes their positions.

note

To move to the next step of the P&G hiring process, receiving a high score in the Switch challenge is not enough; you need to ace all parts of the P&G assessment, which include two more cognitive ability tests and the PEAK performance assessment.

P&G Switch Challenge Practice Questions

  • P&G Switch Challenge Practice Question #1

Show Solution

The correct answer is 3142

In this question, there are two rows of symbols and a missing operator. The code changes the order of the symbols in the upper row to a new order in the lower row.

The digits of the operator represent the symbols according to their position in the upper row before the operator changed it.

Take a look at the first operator – 4132. The first digit is 4. If that were the correct operator, that would mean that the fourth symbol on the first row – the yellow hexagon, should become the first symbol on the bottom row.

But as you can see, the first symbol on the bottom row is the blue star. Once you have figured this out, you know that the first operator is not the correct answer and can rule out that option without needing to check any other digits.

Now let's look at the second operator – 3142. The first digit is 3, which means that if this is the correct operator, the last symbol on the top row – the yellow hexagon, should become the third symbol on the bottom row, which is true!

To be sure that this is the correct answer, you need to check the other digits to rule out the second operator.

When looking at the second operator – 1342, you can see that the locations of the symbols do not match the digit sequence. If it were the correct operator, the yellow hexagon would appear first at the bottom row.

Solving this type of question is the basis for the double-layer sequence. The only way to do so is to practice ahead as much as possible, so in the real time-limited test, you quickly move on to the more complicated question.

  • P&G Switch Challenge Practice Question #2

Show Solution

The correct answer is 4312

This question has two missing operators. The upper operator is applied over the input symbol sequence, and then the sequence passes through another operator. The first operator is given, and you need to determine which of the second operators is the correct one.

Take a look at the first of the second group of operators – 2143. The first digit is 2, which means that if this is the correct operator, the red rhombus, which was the fourth on the top row, became second after going through the first operator, and the first symbol in the low row after going through the second operator.

Once you realize that, you know that the first operator is not the correct answer and can rule out that option.

Now let’s look at the third operator – 4312. As you can see, the first symbol on the top row – the purple triangle, is located fourth after going through the first operator, and first after going through the second operator. Hence the purple triangle is the first symbol in the low row, which means that this is the correct operator.

As in the one-layer questions, you must ace the two-layer questions to reach the more challenging third-layer questions. To make sure you are fully ready for the test, you need more than practice but also a few tricks up your sleeve. • P&G Switch Challenge Practice Question #3

Show Solution

The correct answer is 3241

In this question, there are three missing operators. You are given the first and third operators, and you need to determine which of the second operators is the correct one.

Take a look at the first of the second group of operators – 1423. The first digit is 1, indicating that the blue star on the top row became the fourth symbol after going through the first operator, first after the second operator, and third after going through the third operator. As you can see, the blue star is the third symbol in the low row, which means that the first operator is not the correct answer.

Now, let's look at the second operator – 3241. The first digit is 3, indicating that the red rhombus is in third position after going through the first operator, first after the second operator, and third after going through the third operator. As you can see, the red rhombus is again the third symbol in the low row, which means that this is the correct operator.

If you managed to answer enough third-layer questions, you will receive more difficult question that can include a fourth layer of operator or two layers with three options each. Most people can only solve this type of question with proper preparation that simulates not only the difficulty of the questions but also the strict time limit of the actual test.
